Arts Festival 2017 (KS3)
We are delighted our Arts Festival is returning again in June 2017.
This is our triennal event for KS3 students. They abandon their timetable for two days in June to engage in a wide range of activities:
- Street Dance
- Bollywood Dancing
- Rock and Pop Chart Singing
- Junk and Body Percussion
- African Drumming
- Stage Combat
- T-Shirt Design
- Digital Photography
- Circus Skills
Each student will have the ability to choose a West End show (matinee performance) to go and see, we have purchased tickets for:
- Matilda (Wednesday)
- The Lion King (Wednesday)
- Wicked (Wednesday)
- Aladdin (Thursday)
- School of Rock (Thursday)
- Stomp (Thursday)
We will have limited seats available for these shows and tickets will be offered on a first come first served basis according to when FULL payment is made. Whichever show you choose will determine which day your child is out to a London show and which day your child will stay in school to take part in a selection of workshops (as listed above). On the day of the show students will arrive a little later into school (10.30/11.00am) and will travel to the theatre by coach. We aim to be back at school around 6/6.30pm.
Students will be able to prioritise the workshops they wish to take part in during the Spring Term 2017. Each student will be given an individual timetable for the two days the week of Arts Festival. This will clearly set out the timings and events of their two days.
ALL students will take part, no alternative options are available for these two days, it is a compulsory event for all KS3 students, non attendance on either of these days will be classed as "unauthorised" unless prior approval has been sought from the Headteacher. Enough tickets will be purchased for every child in KS3 to attend a theatre performance. As a school specialising in Music and the Performing Arts we feel this provides access to a number of opportunities to enhance our specialism and our students' education.
The cost of this event is £41 per student for the two day event. Those on FSMs will be offered a discount.
Parentpay is now open and for those that want to guarantee a seat at the show of their choice we recommend payment is made early. As mentioned above theatre seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If payment is not made we will have to make a theatre choice for your child based on what theatre seats we have left - you will still be asked to make a contribution of £41.
If you have any queries regarding this event please do not hesitate to contact Clare Harvell (email@example.com / tel 01895 233909 ext 1377).
