Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award was established in 1956 with the aim of giving young people between the ages of 14 and 25 an opportunity to experience challenging opportunities through exploration and adventurous activities. Pupils will also acquire new skills and make new friends.
There are three levels of award: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level has an increasing degree of commitment. The award currently running at Bishopshalt School is the Bronze, lead by Miss Penny.
To gain this award, participants must complete four sections: Expeditions; Skills; Physical Recreation and Service.
The first cohort of pupils who have started their Bronze Award have just successfully completed their expedition. Please see the power point for their two weekends camping. The next opportunity for pupils to start their Bronze Award will be in April 2011, so watch this space!
