Our GCSE results this year are reported with consideration of the government’s new accountability measures. 72% of Year 11 students achieved of A*-C passes at 9-4 (equivalent to the old C grade) in English and Maths where the national figure in 2017 was 64%. 48% of Year 11 students achieved of A*-C passes at 9-5 in English and Maths, the national figure was 40%.
The progress (P8) made by our students (-0.06) was considered in line with the national average by the DFE. The percentage of children gaining the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc, 9-4 grades) increased to 36%, where the national figure in 2017 was 24%.
Our large Sixth Form is excellent and our A level and BTEC pass rate is high, 39% of students achieving the highest grades of A*-B, and 64% A*-C. The A*-E pass rate was 97%. These results included seven students who achieved at least 3A* and A grades.
Over 75% of our Sixth Form students took up university places this summer and many of these were with prestigious Russell Group universities. More than 150 students were offered places at university including students studying Medicine and Oxbridge.
