Our GCSE results this year are reported with consideration of the government’s new accountability measures. 66% of Year 11 students achieved of A*-C passes at 9-4 (equivalent to the old C grade) in English and Maths, the national figure was 64%. 39% of Year 11 students achieved of A*-C passes at 9-5 in English and Maths, the national figure was 43%.
The progress (P8) made by our students (-0.11) was considered in line with the national average by the DFE; broadly speaking the Year 11 student cohort at Bishopshalt School was of average ability.
The percentage of children gaining the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) increased to 35%, where the national figure was 24%.
Our large Sixth Form is excellent and our A level and BTEC pass rate is high, with 27% A*-A, 53% of students achieving the highest grades of A*-B, and 77% A*-C. The A*-E pass rate was 97%. These results included seven students who achieved at least 3A* and A grades. The progress of students is very god with the DFE describing the value added to those students as being significantly above average’
Over 75% of our Sixth Form students took up university places this summer and many of these were with prestigious Russell Group universities. More than 150 students were offered places at university including students studying Medicine and at Oxbridge.
