Our GCSE results this year showed continued progress of our students. 69% of Year 11 students achieved the benchmark of A*-C passes in English and Maths (the national figure was 62%).
The progress made by our students is considered to be significantly above average by the DFE, because broadly speaking the student cohort at Bishopshalt School is of average ability and our students achieve exam results that are considerably better than average.
Our value added measure (P8) which our Government results report (RaiseOnline) indicates was Significantly Above Average, means that on average every student gained a fifth of a grade better in each of their GCSEs than they would have at an average school.
The percentage of children gaining the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) increased to 23%, in line with the national figure.
Our large Sixth Form is excellent and our A level and BTEC pass rate is high, with 47% of students achieving the highest grades of A*-B, and 81% A*-C. The A*-E pass rate was 99%. These results included seven students who achieved at least 3A* and A grades.
Over 75% of our Sixth Form students took up university places this summer and many of these were with prestigious Russell Group universities. 154 students were offered places at university including students studying Medicine and at Oxbridge.
