KS3 World of Work Day
World of Work Day 2019
On Wednesday 6th February, pupils from Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 took part in a World of Work Careers Inspiration Day here at the School.
Each year group engaged in a range of activities and sessions which were designed to increase their knowledge and understanding of education pathways and career opportunities:
Year 7 took part in Skills to Succeed & Blast Off with ‘Bright Futures’ which helped students to develop employability skills such as working in teams and collaborative problem solving as well as study skills.
Year 8 visited Brunel University, completed the ‘Buzz Quiz’ questionnaire to help students identify suitable career paths and were involved in workshops - ‘Employability Skills’ & ‘Apprenticeships Explained’.
Year 9 were able to take advantage of Career Insight talks delivered by a wide range of different employers who kindly volunteered to come in and meet with the students.
Year 10 - Mr Harris, Director of Sixth Form, delivered a pathways talk outlining post-16 choices and there was a presentation on university life from Bucks New University. They followed this by completing the Buzz Quiz and other independent research on career paths. The students also had a workshop from Amazing Apprenticeships.
Feedback on the day from pupils, staff, parents and employers was overwhelmingly positive. The School would like to publicly thank all the employers who gave up their time to come in to Bishopshalt to engage with the pupils for this event. It would not have been possibly without their support.
