June 2026 - Transition visits/calls

Between Monday 1 to Friday 26 June we will be speaking to the Year 6 teachers at our feeder primary schools so that we can find out all about the group of students who will be joining the Bishopshalt community in September 2026.  We will also be visiting some of our larger feeder primary schools to meet the students in person and during these visits we will be handing out ‘Transition Packs’ containing important information and an Orange Booklet for you to fill in and return to us. If we are not able to visit your child’s primary school, the admissions pack will be posted to your home address.

Tuesday 7 July 2026 - Hillingdon Transition Day: Registration from 9.15am

(Please note these timings are currently provisional. You will be sent more details later in the year).

Please ensure that you bring the Orange Booklet contained in your transition pack with you on this day. Failure to fully complete this booklet, or to return it on time, will have a detrimental effect on your child’s smooth transition from primary to secondary school.

All Year 6 pupils in Hillingdon visit their new Secondary Schools on this date.  Parents should accompany their children and stay to attend a meeting giving further information about the transition process.  We ask that the students and a parent or carer arrive between 9.15 am and 9.35 am, so that we can register your child and start promptly at 9.45 am. It is incredibly important that parents and carers remain with us for the first part of the morning as we will be providing you with important information and advice to help your child prepare for the start of term in September.  It is anticipated that the meeting for parents will end at approximately 10.50am, when your child's Head of Year, our SENCo and the Deputy Head in charge of Transition will be available for informal discussions, should you have any questions.

Over the course of the day the students will get to meet their Head of Year, and other key members of staff.  They will spend a significant amount of time getting to know their Form Tutor and the other members of their class as well as experiencing some Key Stage 3 taster lessons. They will also be given a tour of the school, find out what life at Bishopshalt is like and get the chance to ask any questions or discuss anxieties they may have.

What should my child wear/bring to Transition Day?

Your child should wear their primary school uniform and should ensure that they bring a pen, pencil and notepad, as well as a bottle of water. All pupils will be provided with lunch free of charge in the school canteen, however they may bring a packed lunch if they would prefer to.

You can return and collect your child at 3.05 pm. Pupils will also be allowed to make their own way home, if you are happy for them to do so. Please be aware there will be no parking on the school site and that unfortunately, we cannot accommodate younger siblings.

Key things to remember for Transition Day:

  • Arrive between 9.15 and 9.35am
  • Wear primary school uniform.
  • Fully complete and return the Orange Booklet
  • Pen, pencil and notepad
  • A bottle of water to drink
